Our goal was to create a free and simple-to-use dogs for sale classifieds website. And we’ve built it to make it as easy as possible for you to find.
You’ve found us, so thank you for visiting.
We had the idea to start this Dogs For Sale website years ago when my family (dog lovers of course) started looking around online for a standard poodle for sale.
Sure, we found the big auction sites and the big classified sites. And some of them were even free. But what we didn’t find was a specialty dogs only for sale website that gave a better (and simpler) experience for both buyers AND sellers.
Yep we found the poodle (eventually) in Napier and we called him Solly (he’s dopey and adorable). Click here to see a picture in him.
Afterwards, we got talking about a dogs-only specialty site. And that’s when dogsforsale.co.nz was born!
Why is it Free?
At the start, our friends kept asking “but how will you make money”? And we kept saying “We don’t know and we don’t care!”
We knew that if we focused entirely on making it free, safe and simple then at some stage we would find ways to make it pay for itself. Maybe donations, advertisers or a millionaire dog-loving old lady with no family and only a short time to live (fingers crossed).
Our first goal is to serve our visitors and we’re keen to serve you. To help us with our goal, we’ve teamed up with some of the best dog people in New Zealand to make this much more than a dogs for sale website.

Unlike Trade Me, Sella, T&E or other pet websites, you won’t find any cats, computers or cars here. Just dogs (and puppies).
We are also not an auction site and you’ll even find a brilliantly useful Wanted section so you can connect directly with other users without interference from us.
And with no success fees for listers, you get to save your hard earned cash!
We’ve set this site up to be easy-to-use. And because it’s a specialist website designed to be loved by search engines, this means it attracts more visitors (like you). And more visitors means a better experience for all users.

DogsForSale.co.nz is a work in progress. The growth of this website as a free service to Kiwis, will not only depend on the clever stuff we’re doing to attract visitors here, but on spreading the word by you.

Our first focus however, is getting the basics right, and increasing the numbers of users (hint hint). It won’t be long though until you start to see some exciting changes.
